Palermo is the capital of Sicily and Italy's fifth biggest cities, and maybe the one who has had most names to it. The Phoenician founders of the city used to call it Zìz, while the Greeks named it Panormos and the Arabs gave it the name Balarm. Visiting Palermo you will clearly see this traces of a town which has been populated by many different cultures through out history, leaving it an interesting architectural and artistic heritage. Remains of Phoenicians walls and villas in Art Nouveau style are mixed with buildings in Norman Arabic style, baroque churches and neoclassical Theatres.
